7月2日，2011赛手学院方程式(FPC)首场比赛在广东国际赛车场举行。瑞士车手图施尔(Matheo Tuscher)驾驶18号赛车获得全场冠军，他的队友维索尤(Robert Visoiu)获得亚军，获得季军的是来自安哥拉的23号车手路易斯(Luis Sa Silva)。
FPC排位赛在上午举行，来自瑞士的18号车手图施尔夺得杆位，最快单圈1’14”507，奥地利车手卢卡斯(Lucas Auer)落后0.17秒排在第二，印尼车手索弗彦(Dustin Sofyan)排在第三。排位成绩最好的中国车手是朱戴维，1’15”362。排位赛上跑进1’16”的车手一共有9名，最小时间差距是0.06”。
在当天下午完成的第一回合比赛中，Jenzer Welch Asia车队车手图施尔杆位发车夺冠，最快单圈1’15”526。他的队友维索尤获得亚军。季军是亚洲赛车队的路易斯。获得亚洲组第一，全场第四的是驾驶5号赛车的中国车手朱戴维，最快单圈1’15”996。获得亚洲组第二，全场第五的是29号车手索弗彦。获得亚洲组第三、全场第六的是驾驶8号赛车的中国小将黎志聪。
今天的比赛中，所有赛车顺利起步，安全通过一号弯。绝大部分车手都是第一次驾驶阿巴斯方程式赛车参赛，车手们采取了比较保守的跑法。头排发车的卢卡斯是全场唯一退赛车手，他在完成九圈比赛后从大直道末端冲出了赛道。而杆位发车的图施尔则顺风顺水的完成了整场比赛，捧走了2011赛手方程式比赛的第一座冠军奖杯。
赛后新闻发布会上，全场冠军图施尔说这是他的第一场方程式比赛，在此之前，他已经在卡丁车赛场上累积了十年的比赛经验。获得亚军的维索尤今年在欧洲参加过阿巴斯方程式的比赛，他表示他和他的车队还在逐步适应中国版阿巴斯方程式赛车的特点。季军的路易斯对这款带有涡轮增压的方程式赛车表示兴趣很大，比他之前驾驶过的方程式赛车更有挑战。
根据赛事规则，今天第一回合比赛的最快单圈成绩将决定周日比赛的发车顺序。明天杆位发车的依然是图施尔，卢卡斯虽未完赛，但是凭他的最快单圈仍可以头排发车。
July 2nd, 2011 Formula Pilota China (FPC) had its’ first ever race at Guangdong International Circuit (GIC). Car No.18 Matheo Tuscher (Jenzer Welch Asia) won the race, his teammate Robert Visoiu finished 2nd. 3rd place goes to Luis Sa Silva (Asia Racing Team).
The qualifying started in the morning. Matheo Tusher from Jenzer Welch Asia Racing took pole and his laptime was 1'14'507. Lucas Auer (Eurointernational) qualified 2nd with only 0.17' time difference. Dustin Sofyan, another driver from Eurointernational, was 3rd. David Zhu set the best lap among Chinese drivers (1'15'362) and he was 6th.
The first round saw Tuscher finished the race from pole to win, taking the first ever FPC winner trophy and his best lap was 1’15”526. Visoiu captured 2nd, while Sa Silva settled for 3rd. As for Asian Class, Chinese young gun David Zhu won (4th overall) and his best lap was 1’15”996. Car No.29 Dustin Sofyan (overall 5th) and Car No.8 Zhicong Li (overall 6th) were 2nd and 3rd in Asian Class, respectively.
The race got off to a safe start. As it was the first Formula Abarth race experience for almost everyone, the drivers chose a rather conservative approach during the weekend. After 9 laps, Auer ran off the track at T1 and retired from the race.
At post race press-con, Tuscher indicated that it was his first formula race. “I had 10 years of Karting experience and I am very happy with the result today.”1st runner-up Visoiu, who already had several races with Formula Abarth vehicle in Europe, said that he and his team is still working to get to know the Chinese version of Abarth vehicle. Sa Silva said:”the car is quite interesting, especially with the turbo engine.”
The best lap of each driver will define his/her Sunday grid. Tuscher will start from pole while Lucas Auer, who retired at round 1, will start the 2nd round right beside Tuscher.
