The first qualifying session saw Tommy Chan, the Championship leader, took his first pole of the season by setting a blistering 1:44:620-lap. Despite setting only one competitive lap during the session, his lap was unbeatable and he secures the best starting position for R5.
Newcomer 19-year-old Naomi Schiff scored a stunning second in her first qualifying. The female driver was just 0.222 seconds slower than Tommy, despite having an off. Veteran Kenneth Ma sit 3rd, while defending Champion Eric Lo 4th after he spun off and stuck in the gravel trap. Local driver Yang Xu got 5th.
Another rookie driver, Liu Hai Long from Beijing took 6th, ahead of Huang Yi and fellow rookie Di Yue Long. Meanwhile, Ye Xing Ping will start 9th in R5.
During the second session, Naomi Schiff again surprised the field by snatching pole with 1:44:736. Kenneth Ma got a close second while Yang Xu took third, despite stopping on track with a puncture. Tommy Chan could not repeat his form and had to settle for 4th only, ahead of Eric Lo.
Liu Hai Long again got sixth, ahead of Huang Yi, Di Yue Long and Ye Xing Ping.
