After successfully winning the Championship six times in eight years, the dominating Changan Ford Racing Team is marching into its ninth CTCC season with a positive yet humble, and cautious attitude.
It is a fantastic feeling for the team to enjoy the on track success and although it is difficult to quantify the team's contribution, the team shares the satisfaction and the sense of achievement generated by the Ford Focus sales number in the market place. This feeling forms part of the motivation for the team to do even better this year.
For the 2014 season, the team will field four newly built Ford New Focus Sedans in the championship. The team worked hard in the last five months to get these cars completed. The organizer and the tyre supplier have decided to introduce new compound again in 2014. Without more well planned testings, it could be quite unpredictable how this new chassis working with this new compound.
The cars will continue to be powered by the Ford Ecoboost GTDi engine. This 1.6L Turbocharged Direct Injection engine has proven that not only it has a nice power/torque curve, it is also fuel efficient and reliable. All these points are essential for a successful racing engine.
The team also elevates the driver lineup to an even higher level by re-signing its team leader Rainey He, 2011 and 2013 driver champion Andy Yan, promising young driver Martin Xie and added Darryl O'Young, a fast driver with vast amount of international racing experience.
As the incumbent championship team, the team is certainly the target of different entities and subjected to actions to slow down the team all in the holy name of 'balance'. So the team must maintain a high level of vigilant mentality and good preparation to counter this.
John Ling, Team Manager 'When we are running at this level of racing, good preparation and well executed action plan could be the edge that you need to win races. Although we still have room for improvement, but our weekly conference call with Changan Ford Engineering is very important and it plays a huge part facilitating the things that we need to do.'
The first race of the season will be held this weekend in Guangzhou International Circuit.
