比赛于早上10点开始。赛前落下的倾盆大雨，让赛道变得非常湿滑。
开赛的信号灯一亮起，白石勇树在1号弯处，迅速超越杆位
车手林邦，取得领先地位。紧跟这两名车手之后的阿列克谢，则暂列第三。但在第一圈，阿列克谢和林邦在11号弯发生了碰撞，双双遗憾退出比赛。而白石勇树在第一圈的尾段就已经和后面的车群拉开了一定的差距。此时翁厚垣排名第二，亚历山德拉则排名第三。不过翁厚垣并没能保持住第二名的位置。在第三圈的时候，他就被亚历山德拉和李静雯超越。与此同时，阿知波勉在解决之前的车辆问题后，再次从维修区起跑，然后在第三圈，快速超越翁厚垣跃至第五，并且不断的刷新最快圈速。
可是，或许是加速过快在第四圈打滑而跌至第四名。此时赛事进行到中段，白石勇树依然领先，跟随其后的是亚历山德拉，而李静雯排名第三。值得一提的是，今天除了阿知波勉的表现令人印象深刻，从尾位发车的张世成亦发挥出了惊人的表现。张世成在第三圈的时候，就已经爬升至第四位，随后便在第六圈时，赶超李静雯，成功跃至第三位。随后，在比赛只剩下两圈的时候，他又超越亚历山德拉，夺得第二名。最终，白石勇树同时夺得了国际组及亚洲组的冠军，而张世成和亚历山德拉则分列二三名。
在赛后的访问中，从白石勇树的表情可看出，这个赛事周末对于他来说是充满回忆的。他回忆起周五和周六时在赛道的感受时，觉得因为车辆的问题和些许小失误，发挥得不是那么理想。而就今天获得的冠军头衔，他认为他能在今天瞬间变化的天气底下取得胜利，只是幸运所致。
另外，下一站的亚洲AFR方程式系列赛将在8月的19-20号，在上海国际赛车场（F1赛道）举行。在谈论今天比赛中激烈斗争情况的同时，所有的车手都对即将来临的比赛表示兴奋。其实有好几位车手的积分优势，都显露出有望夺得2011年亚洲AFR方程式系列赛国际组奖杯的可能性。继如此激动人心的比赛之后，在上海的比赛肯定能再次令AFR能呈现给车迷更多让人心情澎湃的赛事。
Round 6 started at 10am, after a heavy downpour in the morning left the track in full wet conditions for the event.
When the start lights went off, Yuki Shiraishi immediately passed pole sitter Ringbom to take the lead in turn one, with Alexey Karachev closely behind Ringbom in P3. However, during the first lap Alexey and Ringbom made contact in turn 11 and both were unable to continue the race.
Yuki moved far in front of the rest of the field by the end of the first lap, with Victor Yung following in second place and Alexandra Asmasoebrata in 3rd. Victor was unable to hold onto 2nd however, and was passed in the 3rd lap by Alexandra and Diana Rosario. Meanwhile, Tsutomu Achiha, who had started from pit lane after mechanical issues, made a hard charge up the field from last place all the way to take P5 from Victor in lap 3, with Achiha constantly re-setting the fastest race lap. However, Tsutomu pushed a bit too hard and spun in lap 4 to drop to 7th. By the middle of the race, Yuki was leading, followed by Alexandra and Diana Rosario in P3.
But apart from Tsutomu, the other hard charging driver of the day making a big impression on AFR fans was Timothy Teo, who had started in the back of the grid for race 2 after his DNF yesterday. Timothy worked his way up to P4 by lap 3, then took 3rd place from Diana Rosario in lap 6, then 2nd place from Alexandra with just two laps to go. In the end, grabbed the champion of both the International Category and the Asian Category, followed by Timothy Teo in 2nd and Alexandra Asmasoebrata in 3rd.
During the interview after the race, Yuki Shiraishi seemed to have got lots of memorable moments of this race weekend. He talked about the driving feeling of Friday and Saturday. Due to the technical problems and some little mistakes, he didn’t think that he preformed very well. And about today grabbing the championship, unexpectedly he thought he was just the lucky dog of that, driving through the sunshine combining with the pouring rain.
And the next AFR event, Rounds 7 & 8 August 19-20 is on site, to be held at the famous Shanghai International F1 Circuit. Talking about the challenging track conditions in today’s race, all the drivers are excited for that as well. With several drivers still with enough points to be in contention for the overall 2011 AFR Series win, the Shanghai races are sure to bring even more thrilling race action to Asia Formula Renault after this weekend’s exciting race.
